Cloud Outs (series)

Working from a series of stills Gaspar captured while documenting the demolition of one of the largest divisions at a jail, Cloud Out is a series of works on paper in which the artist extends the sky of each image with oil pastels. The carceral facility is, therefore, transformed into a temporary or obsolete landscape. The works combine photography with gestures of interruption and concealment, focusing attention on processes of demolition, transformation, and disappearance within the carceral landscape.
